(WHSV) - A cold front that passed through the east last night may disrupt travel in a few places today, and a clipper system will bring snow to the Alleghenies late on Sunday.

FRIDAY: A quickly moving cold front is ushering in much cold air across the Eastern US today. Turning windy today and we will see snow showers for the Alleghenies, Great Lakes and Northeast. Much colder across the country.

Quite chilly across the area with gusty winds. Winds gusting 35-45 mph at times. The wind and snow could impact travel today in the northeast and for our local airports, so something to be mindful of as you plan to head home today.

THE WEEKEND: Overall, the weekend is looking cold but quiet in terms of any large storm systems. This includes the entire East Coast stretching into the Plains. There will be a quick-hitting clipper system that will be pivoting across Pennsylvania and areas in the northeast late Saturday into early Sunday. Then, secondary energy from a quick-hitting clipper will send snow showers to the Allegheny Mountains late Sunday. There will likely be some snow accumulation and some gusty winds across these regions, so this may impact travel, especially Sunday afternoon. So, if you’re traveling across the Alleghenies or from upstate PA, you may have to adjust the timing of your travel, perhaps leaving earlier than later.
